Company founder, Carl Heuchemer, celebrates his 80th birthday
On 19th May 1967, Carl Heuchemer, owner and senior partner of the Carl Heuchemer Company, Sawmill, Box and Cardboard Factory, is able to celebrate his 80th birthday with remarkable mental clarity.
1969
New factory building in Bad Ems
The modern build in Wilhelmsallee was able to be ready after around ten months, and serves above all as a focus for administration and offices.
1970
More diversification of supply: ‘Production of Plastic Packaging’ in Miehlen/Taunus.
From this year on, Heuchemer Packaging exists as we know it today, with the three resources:
- Wood
- Corrugated board
- Plastic
An official ceremony to mark the 50-year anniversary of the company took place on 6th October.
1980
Considerable expansion demands the construction of another factory in Miehlen/Taunus.
1987
Fire in Bad Ems
In 1987, the ‘plastics production’ sub-division caught fire and resulted in the Bad Ems location being burned almost completely to the ground. As a result, it was decided to outsource plastics packaging production to the ‘Old School’ in Miehlen/Taunus, and to rebuild the Bad Ems location for the production of crates and pallets.

Christoph Heuchemer takes over management of Heuchemer Packaging from his father, Karl-Heinz
1990er
Expansion of market expertise into all three areas of business
In the 1990’s, Heuchemer Packaging continued to expand its areas of operation and obtained international prestige particularly in the field of refining corrugated board packaging. The company was also awarded various prizes from this time, from the Grand Prix Cyrel Awards, among others.

Founding of C.O.P. France S.A.R.L.
2004
Opening of the printing centre in Miehlen
In 2004, we reached a milestone in Heuchemer Packaging’s production opportunities with the opening of the 7-colour printing centre in Miehlen/Taunus. Since then, the most dazzling printed images have been used on our 7-colour masterflex printing machine in our corrugated board packaging factory for our flexo direct printing processes.

A company celebration with 2 anniversaries at once: Karl-Heinz Heuchemer celebrates his 85th birthday, and Heuchemer Packaging celebrates 88 years of its existence. Celebrations are carried out in very high spirits at a party in the timber yard of our Bad Ems location.
2009
Opening of the raw materials storage at the corrugated board factory
The continual growth of the corrugated board factory demanded further building measures to be taken for the extension of storage capabilities for the corrugated board raw materials in sheet form.
2010
90 years of Heuchemer Packaging
The family organised a ceremony in the Bad Ems spa house to celebrate the 90-year anniversary of the company, along with all their employees.
2011
Opening of the plastics plant cleanroom
In 2011, the plastics factory took a significant step forward in its possibilities for production by installing a cleanroom which offers the opportunity to produce goods in accordance with ISO standards for cleanroom class 8.
2012
Christoph Heuchemer died on 11th October 2012
Christoph Heuchemer died unexpectedly, and his three children Laura, Christian and Sophie each inherited a third of his company. Since then, the three siblings have continued to manage the company independently and in memory of their father, working with their employees in daily operations towards the successful continuation of the business every day.

For the first time, Heuchemer Verpackung is listed in the EcoVadis Sustainablity Rating and immediately receives the bronze award.

FachPack 2019 – Livestream into the Miehlen plant
At FachPack 2019, Heuchemer Verpackung surprised trade fair visitors with a livestream from Nuremberg to Miehlen to demonstrate packaging production in real time. At the trade fair, visitors could have their picture taken and then watch the mounting of the images onto the individualised print image and the production of the packaging in Miehlen live on a video wall. Within a few minutes, the employees from the digital printing centre presented the finished printed and die-cut packaging via camera image. Afterwards, the packaging was sent by express to the respective trade fair visitors as a thank you. Is it possible to produce individualised packaging in real time? Heuchemer Verpackung provided live proof that this is possible!

100 years of Heuchemer Packaging
The already planned celebration of the 100th anniversary of the company with customers and employees unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the Corona pandemic, to the great regret of the family.

EcoVadis – Silver Medal
Heuchemer Verpackung continues to improve in all relevant areas on the topic of “sustainability” and receives the silver award in the EcoVadis Sustainablity Rating.
